Weather Balloon, 2014
Fog Painting Process, 2012
In this video I prepare a sheet of paper with a coating of glycerin commonly used in fog fluid for creating the effect of mist. Each page becomes a work that is left with the trace of the solution used.
Below is one of the resulting images from the process of heating the glycerin on the page.
Storm, (HD Video and Computer Simulation), 2011
The video Storm is an atmospheric recreation of the weather by way of a high-definition video loop that consists of simulated clouds, lightning, and rain with the sound of planes and thunder embedded in the soundtrack. Here weather is a particulate virtual environment. Generated by the computer apparatus, the video has its own connection to the history of war, and the more current practice of weather prediction. In the exhibition the spectacle of rain, thunder and lightning, positioned the viewer within the dramatization. The work was inspired by the life, and death, of my great uncle Louis during his service as pilot with the Special Operations Executive in World War Two. On the night of November 8, 1944, Louis and six crewmembers flew out into a storm that was thought to be isolated around their airfield at Tempsford, England. Of the four aircraft that set out that night, two, including Louis’s, were struck by lighting never to return.
Iceberg Cloud, 2011
In this work a virtual 3D model floats in space and oscillates between an ice crystal an iceberg and a translucent cloud.
Rainfall, 2011
In this video simulated rain is to be projected from above in an installation to give the effect of water pouring down onto the viewer.
